Hello, i install boinc soft on FreeBSD 8 (from ports), run -
%boinc_cmd --project_attach setiathome.berkeley.edu <NNNNNNNNN...N>such result:
connect: Connection refused can't connect to local host

As posted in other forums here, It appears that some users are unable to connect to seti@home. This is due to a problem with S@H's internet provider. It is being looked into
Try attaching to another project or 2 to make sure that this is the problem.

Did you start the BOINC client first? Otherwise boinc_cmd can't connect to it. ;-)
If the client (boinc) is running, you need to allow it through your firewall on port 31416 (pi:-).

I was facing the same problem before (freeBSD 8.2 with gnome),
but after add following line to the /etc/rc.conf
and re-start FreeBSD
everything work perfectly well
to start boinc (graphical window)
