x38g on ATOM ION

Ok, here's the stability report for x38g, on my Atom with ION GPU, driver version 266.58. After 68 hours of continous CUDA crunching with x38g, there's been no issuses whatsoever. Not one crash, not one errored out WU, nothing, nada. It seems to run just as stable as stock 609. This is the first Lunatics opt version for CUDA, that hasn't crashed and burned my poor little ION. It's been running through WU's with a variety of AR's, and they all finish without any issues. Very well done Lunatics, you finally made an opt CUDA version that works on Intel ATOM with ION GPU.

When it comes to speed though, x38g on this little ION seems to be a bit slower than stock 609, maybe depending on AR's, somewhere between 10-15% slower. Other AR's seems to be a bit faster, but it's too early to definitely say.

The net result in speed difference is also too early to say, maybe the AR's that it is faster in, will compensate for the loss in those that it is slower to crunch.

Can you confirm Jason, that it is possible that x38g, may be considerably slower on an ATOM/ION on certain AR's, than stock 609?

Why you don't use 275.33 driver?
This gave on my system little bit speed up.

I'll try 275.33 Sutaru, and we'll see if it changes anything. It's possible though, that the ION gets slower and slower with newer drivers.

Yes, on my system it's true if I would sticky with stock 6.09_cuda23 app.
In this case there is a big speed difference between 190.38 (fast) and 275.33 (slow) driver.

But if I compare the 6.09_cuda23 & 190.38 driver with the x38g_cuda32 & 275.33 driver, the last combi is little bit faster. But OTOH the last combi use more CPU time.

Ok, now I see what the problem with 275.33 was. It doesn't see more than the onboard mem of the little ION. It only has 64 Meg, but I have memory shared up to 512 Meg, and that's been working fine up to this new driver. I'll reinstall the newest driver and see if I can do something to make it see all memory, even the shared.

Ok, now it's obvious. 275.33 is CUDA 4, and it does not see anything else than onboard memory. So, I'll revert to what worked, 266.58 CUDA 3.2.

Like Perryjay mentioned it will only work with 270.32 like it seems.
Try those please.

I DL the driver only from nVIDIA..
If you DL from somewhere other, you don't know what you DL additional also.. ;-)

I found the 270.61 (WHQL) on the nVIDIA DL site, maybe it work with this?

I dunno where you get those strange versions from, I can't find 270.32 on Nvidias site, not even in the archived/beta section

BTW.

If the 270.32 isn't available on the nVIDIA DL site (beta and archived area), I guess this isn't an officially nVIDIA driver, this is a driver mod.

Yeah, I found that one too, I'll try it when I sort out the other problem that just made it impossible to install anything. I've had soime 7-zip errors that just makes it impossible to do any driver installs at all
