For some strange reason I seem to be getting lots of pending credits lately and they dont seem to be updating. Some have been pending for over a week. Can someone shed some light on this matter?

Credits remain pending until there is a close match between 2 results from the same Work Unit, or a match (not as close) between 3 results from the same WU. Pending credits therefore mean that your wingmate (the other person with a task from the same WU) has not returned his task, or there was not a close match and another task has been sent, or that the validator is down. Validation can happen anytime from seconds after a result is reported (you are the second to return a result for that WU) to several weeks (in the case of a retry) to a few months (several retries).

John, after approx. a 10 year sabatical from Seti, I just rejoined (3 days ago) with the Boinc advanced program. Needless to say it is all new for me. At any rate, I have completed about 33 wu's. Only 8 have been verified for credit. 19 are pending. I read your answer to another user's question which is exactly what I was wondering. At this rate, according to your answer it could take a few months, I could have a considerable scroll list. Fortunately, at the moment, two of my wu's are from the Astropulse program. This must be hard to keep track of on the servers end considering all of the members worldwide. Do some of these pending wu's ever get "Lost in Limbo"?

Once in awhile you will see a pending task where both you and your wingman have finished but no credit issued. This will usually have to wait until the work unit times out. Once it times out it is checked again and then gets the credit or gets sent out again if the results don't quite match.

Very rarely do any get lost in Limbo. They are tracked in a database, and the code is supposed to handle all cases. The last time I know about that any got lost in limbo there was an edge case that was not handled correctly.
