Is there any way to tell the windows BOINC program to return results immediatly? I now there is for linux. I dont like the fact that I have to click update for the result to go to the SETI server.

You do not need to click update as BOINC will do that for you when it connects to the server........

You don't have to... just wait a couple of hours/days - depending on your "connect to server every x days" setting. The next time it requests more work, all completed units will be reported. BOINC does not require you to babysit it. If you choose to do so, then so be it :)

Add -return_results_immediately to your shortcut command that starts boinc.

Terry, somebody else once posted this tip and I asked how that was done but nobody ever answered my question.

Could you explain exactly how this is done as I see no place to put a Command in my shorcut...??? Thanks in advance ... :)

In my case, it's: "C:Program FilesBOINCboinc_gui.exe" -return_results_immediately

Of course all the slashes got filtered out.

Ok, thanks a lot, I tried it on one PC that was ready to finish a Seti WU and it reported it and was gone from the GUI immediately, so I think that works for me to. The first time I typed it in I had one of the _ wrong and the screen saver started up instead .... hehe ... I put the _ right and then it worked ... Thanks again ...

I got the -return_results_immediately to work ok. How do I change the settings so that SETI only sends the results back when it contacts the server for more Work Units?

Just run it normally without any switches.

my boinc entry in the start up folder looks like this:
"C:Program FilesBOINCboinc_gui.exe" -min -return_results_imediately

And it does everything I want it to, but what does -allow_remote_gui_rpc do? I have seen explinations of them, but I don't understand what they mean. Can anyone explain this to me?

It allows the 4.5x interface or BOINCview to control BOINC on computer A from computer B.
