Ive been offline from SETI for 2 years but would like to get back into my old account. Problem is I have none of the old computers I was using and I no longer have access to the e-mail I regeistered with. How do access that account? I can still "see" my old profile.

Do you still know the old email address and your password? The email account doesn't need to be functional for you to log into your SETI account. Just change the email address to the actual one after logging in (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/edit_email_form.php).

The directory where you can find the account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file might be hidden by windows. So, make sure to let the windows explorer show hidden files and directories when looking for it.

I have been back with BOINC with a new account since the middle of last year. At that time I was unable to connect to my old account which I started back in 1999. I would sure like to have all those credits merged to my current account. I have a feeling I'm the only Robert DeWoody from central Florida that has been a member that long.

And what exactly are you asking for? ;-)

I can't transfer my old account's credits because according to BOINC my old account is still active

I can't transfer my old account's credits because according to BOINC my old account is still active None of the old Classic accounts are still "active". If that's the message you receive, then your Classic account was likely already linked to a newer BOINC-SETI account, which would explain why it says it's active (all BOINC-SETI accounts are considered active). So at this point you would have to try to remember which email address you used to sign up with BOINC-SETI originally, as that one likely has your original Classic account linked to it. [Edit] Is there any chance you created a different BOINC account under a different handle or pseudonym?

Bob, I mentioned a solution over in the Cafe. Replaced "]" with "=" ;-) Just in case someone wonders about the linked thread (and wants to wander there). Gruß, Gundolf

I can't get the password because my old e-mail address is no longer active. What happens when you enter your "old e-mail address (which) is no longer active" in this form?: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_classic_link.php What message do you get? (copy the message here (without the actual email part)) ____________ - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :)

I can't get the password because my old e-mail address is no longer active. I had a Boinc account at my old e-mail address with Brighthouse. When I moved and switched to Comcast I couldn't access my old account so I started a new one with my comcast e-mail. All of my previous e-mail accounts were set up as Modlerbob@....... ____________ Bob DeWoody

I had a Boinc account at my old e-mail address with Brighthouse. When I moved and switched to Comcast I couldn't access my old account so I started a new one with my comcast e-mail. All of my previous e-mail accounts were set up as Modlerbob@....... Many people make this same mistake. They think that if they switch email addresses, that all accounts tied to that email address won't work. Most places that use your email address to identify your account only use that for communications. They don't actually validate the email address every time you log in. What you should have done was log into your old BOINC account with your old email and password, then go into your account and change the email to the new one. Remember that even if your email doesn't work or is cancelled, you can still log into your accounts that are tied to that email so long as you remember the password.
