simple answer. No, Merging accounts is not allowed. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

It couldn't be the same Email address. Boinc projects use the Email as the account identifier so only one account is permitted per email address. Account merging is not allowed since that was one of the features of Seti Classic that was abused by cheaters to increase their score. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |

I think it's possible to use the "same" email for 2 different accounts because the projects' servers think the CaSe of letters MaTTers in the email address. (as opposite to email servers/sites which do not distinguish between abc@xyz333xyz.com and ABC@xyz333xyz.com) E.g. these are considered the same when you send email but are different when you make an account here: RobertMacLennan@xyz333xyz.com robertmaclennan@xyz333xyz.com Edit: Sorry, not true (see later post) - if you try to make a new account (here, on this site) with the same email but using different casing you can't ("Can't create account" error message). I didn't tested to make new account from the BOINC Manager. Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |

Actually most forums and emails are not case sensitive. I've logged in here using full caps but had to drop that to complete my password In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

You are right - I tried to make another account with the same email but using different casing and the answer is "There's already an account with that email address." Why I think that in previous years it was possible to make another account by mistake if you supply in BOINC Manager (during attach to project) the "same" email (yours) but using different casing? There was a bug with the login being case sensitive until a couple of years ago. I don't think it ever caused the problem of a second account being created with a different case. Misspelling the address is a more common can of worm leading someone to create multiple accounts. Boinc V7.2.42 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB, GTX470 |
