BOINC downloaded and installed and is running correctly as near as I can tell. No errors coming up on this system anyway. It made contact with seti@home host to download data and it is not downloading and has been this way for the last 40 minutes or so. Nothing is happening. Is there a problem or do I just wait?

Just wait. Your computer probably has trouble keeping the connection to the server, because the server is so busy. But BOINC will continue downloading on its own and will succeed eventually. Then your computer will start processing that task.

As long as your computer remains connected to the Internet, you don't need worry about a thing. :-)

Gundolf
PS: If you are feeling adventurous, you can switch to advanced view and inspect the Transfer tab for the status of the download. ;-)
