Yesterday evening, one of our storage servers lost contact with its expansion enclosure. Upon power cycle, the expansion reappeared but the raid that spanned both head and expansion looks to be gone. This server contained the raw data that the splitter uses to create workunits. No raw data was lost because it is all backed up.

Good to hear that its not all too serious. I hope things get back to normal soon. Until then, people should set BOINC to NOT contact the project, upload units or the likes. The less load on the servers might be for the better. I intend to shut down BOINC until things clear up (as I only run SETI@home).

Thanks for taking time to give us a heads-up Jeff. Yes, why upload server doesn't work too? Is it the same host? I've got completed WUs, and I fear they might be expired before I could report for them... ____________

Hi Guys, sorry I have to remove BOINC, the program will not release my computers and binds them up so they become unusable for anything else after 5 hours. A real shame. I will continue to look in to see if any fixes are out to solve this. Thanks, Steve

The folks at Overland really came through! They give us amazing support. One of their engineers logged into the the server and worked his magic. The RAID and filesystem have come back to life. We'll let the RAID resync and do a final reboot to clear some flags and then restart work generation.

The question was ask earlier with no response. Why is the upload server disabled? Is this to allow the database to rebuild? How about some answers!

On the bright side, I think that last couple weeks was the longest uptime SETI had in more than a year.

What did you expect. Long holiday weekend coming up, time to go boobies up. For us it was Tango Uniform, or if it was really bad, Alpha Foxtrot Uniform (Navy always has to be different). ____________ Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired
