if the hardware is the same it shouldn't but there are no guarantees. Also if you rename the computer to the old name you can merge your data by name

It should almost certainly remain the same host after an OS update, so Skildude's suggestion about merging hosts probably won't be necessary, but there's always that option if anything goes weird.
