One of the reasons to group multipe result-"reports" together, is to lessen the load on the scheduling-server. So if you're not on dialup, doesn't see any reason to manually report results with a cache-setting that will connect every 2-3 days.

I don't think it's WRONG to do this, it's just more intervention than I bother with.

My settings are only for 1 day (cause I have about 2 weeks left on my CP I don't worry about outages), but you sending the results in sooner doesn't REALLY make an difference one way or another, except that you have to click a button or 2 on your computer.

If you didn't think you'd make it under the reporting wire (cause you'd turned off your comps for a couple of days, for example) then I'd probably click them through too, but other than that I don't think it's really an issue.

I have mine set for 4 days but if I am sitting at the computer (which is alot lately since I am currently unemployed) and there are some wus done I will go ahead and manually update them. Things have been running good the last few weeks so it is no big deal if you update manually.
BTW Rachel I started running seti about a week after you and I have been secretly racing you and Siran of Vulcan since you two were the first two I came across that had the same speed computer as mine. For a long time you were about 400 credits ahead of me but now I am able to keep about 200 to 400 ahead of you. True I do have two computers but I am also running LHC and Pirats.
How soon will you be able to add more computers?

Just one more will never be enough. After you have 2 you will want 3 and then 4, 5,6.... etc.
I started with just my Dell P4 2.8ghz w/HT. Then I added an old Dell server that has 2 550mhz processors. Both of those run seti, LHC and Pirates. Then I added a Compaq AMD 1.5mhz that runs climate predictor and LHC. Most recently I added a 450mhz Gateway computer to just run LHC. I do have 5 other computers that I could use but one runs at 350mhz and the other 4 run at 266 mhz.
Just with the 4 computers I do have running the room temperature can get up to 86 degrees F. To help keep down on the heat and power consumption I only use one monitor to view the 2 machines that run seti. The other two pc's have their own monitor since they are used by other family members.

I'll race you to 30,000.

I think the connect to report question will be moot soon. I am using Ver 4.54 of BOINC and it seems to report the WU as completed and upload results as soon as you complete the WU and download a new WU at this time. I am setup to connect every 3 days.
