Very short article. Interesting.

The Hubble space telescope has captured images of dwarf galaxy NGC 4214, located about 10 million light-years away in the Hunting Dogs constellation.

NASA and the European Space Agency released photos of the galaxy Thursday, including one that shows a large cavity that's home to a cluster of huge stars that range in temperature from 10,000-50,000 C, ESA said. The stars' strong stellar winds created the cavity.

In the image, some of the galaxy's large amount of gas can be seen glowing red.

Though small, the dwarf galaxy is an "ideal laboratory" astronomers can use to research star formation and evolution.

YOu just have to admire the Hubble. It's more than paid for itself. Thank you NASA and President Clinton for extending its life

Ten Million seems pretty close for another Galaxy

10 million light years is relatively close to us on a cosmic scale. if we were looking at a dwarf galaxy (or any galaxy for that matter) that is 10 billion light years distant, it would appear to us as nothing more than a faint smudge in the sky, unlike the detailed image that accompanies the above article.

Yes; there are several dwarf galaxies less than a million LY away, most of them discovered fairly recently because they’re so faint and diffuse—and from (relatively) close up they’re resolved into individual stars that mingle with those in our own Galaxy. A few of these objects are actually interacting with the Milky Way, which is gradually absorbing them.
