I can't imagine why any labor union would march with communists. I have a funny feeling that the actual march was for a latino cause (Cinco de Mayo) and the nutbags came out of the wood work unfortunately we see only what someone wants us to see. which clearly is people that are uninformed and uneducated enough to even guess what communism would hold for them. quick answer is nothing. They be doing the same thing they are doing now, workwise. They certainly wouldn't be allowed to protest

The Internationale

Stand up, damned of the Earth
Stand up, prisoners of hunger
Reason thunders in its volcano
This is the eruption of the end
Of the past let us make a clean slate
Enslaved masses, stand up, stand up
The world is about to change its foundation
We are nothing, let us be all
|: This is the final struggle
Let us group together, and tomorrow
The Internationale
Will be the human race :|

There are no supreme saviours
Neither God, nor Caesar, nor tribune.
Producers, let us save ourselves
Decree the common salvation
So that the thief expires,
So that the spirit be pulled from its prison,
Let us fan the forge ourselves
Strike the iron while it is hot
|: This is the final struggle
Let us group together, and tomorrow
The Internationale
Will be the human race :|

The State oppresses and the law cheats
Tax bleeds the unfortunate
No duty is imposed on the rich
The rights of the poor is an empty phrase
Enough languishing in custody
Equality wants other laws:
No rights without duties, she says,
Equally, no duties without rights
|: This is the final struggle
Let us group together, and tomorrow
The Internationale
Will be the human race :|

Hideous in their apotheosis
The kings of the mine and of the rail
Have they ever done anything other
Than steal work?
Inside the safeboxes of the gang,
What work had created melted.
By ordering that they give it back
The people want only their due.
|: This is the final struggle
Let us group together, and tomorrow
The Internationale
Will be the human race :|

The kings made us drunk with fumes,
Peace among us, war to the tyrants!
Let the armies go on strike,
Stocks in the air, and break ranks
If they insist, these cannibals
On making heroes of us,
They will know soon that our bullets
Are for our own generals
|: This is the final struggle
Let us group together, and tomorrow
The Internationale
Will be the human race :|

Workers, peasants, we are
The great party of labourers
The earth belongs only to men
The idle will go to reside elsewhere
How much of our flesh have they consumed,
But if these ravens, these vultures
Disappeared one of these days
The sun will shine forever
|: This is the final struggle
Let us group together, and tomorrow
The International
Will be the human race :|

Thank you Keith for your link, I found it most encouraging. I thought that the Communist Party of the U.S. was moribund but now see that it is indeed alive and well and joining the fight for social justice.

One of the images shows the Young Communist League with the words Peace, Equality, Democracy and Socialism on their banner. Seems to me these are worthy goals.

Message 1105473 - Posted: 12 May 2011, 16:32:17 UTC - in response to Message 1105467.

Founded in 1919, the Communist Party USA has championed the struggles for democracy, labor rights, women’s equality, racial justice and peace for ninety years.

Isn't that what we all basically want, notwithstanding our own particular brand of politics?

I think anarchists, socialists, sexists, and racists would disagree.

Nope. Just stating those that would feel different to everything mentioned.

Not the Anarchists and Socialists I was referring to.

The Anarchists I was referring to are the type that do not believe in equality, but in domination over all others. They want no laws because they think that the strongest should be on top and all others should be subservient. These are not the "peaceful" lawless Anarchists you're thinking of. These do not believe in the political Anarchism so much as the physical lack of laws to do as one pleases, including to harm others.

The Socialists I was referring to believe in their own superiority above all others purely by social or financial status. They don't want to be equal with others, they want segregation from those lesser than them. I'm not referring to your common political Socialist party.

Again, I never said all four groups were lumped together and in agreement on anything. I was merely pointing out that not all people want peace and fairness.

You are talking about the libertarians (follows of Ayn Rand) and far right conservatives then who are a form of Anarchists. Even the Libertarians do not support racism and sexism as they are individual elitists.

I have never come across Socialists like this. You will have to give me examples.

Well the groups you picked are usually considered the antithesis of sexists and racists. So you can understand why I am confused by your comments.

I think he is referring to the clowns someone stuck with the label anarchist who show up at WTO meetings for the sole purpose of rioting.

I am most certainly referring to similar clowns. I have the unfortunate experience of knowing a few of these people to this day. They currently abide by society's laws because they do not wish to go to jail, but they keep telling me that they are for a complete government overthrow and lack of rules.

No, Es99, these are not followers in the Ayn Rand philosophy. Their anarchist philosophy is that they want to return to the raw-and-gritty days of nomad-ism where a man could truly own his land (paid no taxes) if he lived outside of a ruled kingdom, and he could kill any tress-passers he wishes without having to answer to societal laws about if the killing were ethical. They can do as they please on their own land without having to answer to anybody but themselves. They are also chauvanist in that they want the females barefoot, pregnant and subservient. They want to be King of their own castles, with their children as free-labor peasants.

The Socialists I was referring to believe in their own superiority above all others purely by social or financial status. They don't want to be equal with others, they want segregation from those lesser than them. I'm not referring to your common political Socialist party.

Rich elitist snobs who want their own cliche of socialism to only help their own kind.

Yes, I failed to clarify that I wasn't referring to the common politico-philosophical groups as commonly described by their definitions.

While they may say they are anarchists, the description sounds more like feudalism.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

No, certainly not feudalism. Feudalism still has a system, and circles around "warrior nobility". They want no system at all. Each man is isolated from the rest of the world and completely self-reliant.

Hey not fair!!!

What was our slogan back in the 70's when the Parti Quebec took power in the province of Quebec in 1973. Over the balance of the decade there was a mass exodus of English speaking people from the province.

This resulted in the shift of economic and cultural power from Montreal to Toronto.

Last one to leave Quebec, turn out the lights.

We all know when you speak of equality, you speak of economic equality. If you want it, work for it. That means having initiative and drive, getting a job and WORKING. In other words, earning what is yours, not demanding it out of thin air. Gee, what a novel concept!
