This is about what I normally get.

My ISP is actually Golden Valley Cable, but it gets the IP block from NPG cable of Bullhead City, AZ.

I'm out your way about once a year or so. In Laughlin then go down to Lake Havasu, my uncle lives there. We join up with the old Rampart division guys from the LAPD. Fun bunch of guys that are retired out in those areas now, such a blast!

Here is Verizon DSL in MA. I used to have cable, which was better speed-wise, but my connection kept constantly dropping which was really annoying since I work from home. Comcast did troubleshooting on it for almost a year before I gave up and switched to DSL. I would like to get FIOS, but it's not available in my city. For $30/month, I'm happy enough with my connection.

It's not exactly a contest as such, well at least it was never intended to be one. Just a little surprised at the feedback so far. We in the UK are continually being told that we lag behind the rest of the world in broadband, maybe not.

For a 'prestigious' business park, I'm having to use TWO adsl lines where each gives just 512kbit/s. They don't work after heavy rain, or if there has been a frost and sudden thaw in the morning.

The BT alternative is to pay many thousands of pounds a year for a leased line at 2Mbit/s maximum...

Oh, and they signed a deal with the site builders so that it was their ducting that was laid down, and noone else can get on site or use the ducts...

This is all on a site just a few miles from the city centre.

Is this the UK or Timbuktu?

(No insult intended on Timbuktu.)

I pay $54US for 20Mb/s. After changing to a DOCSIS3 cable modem I got 60Mb/s for almost a year then Comcast reduced it to around 30Mb/s.

Looks like I don't do to bad on my 15Mb/3Mb line at home.

I was getting really high numbers for any place within 100 miles so I think one is slightly more realistic.

Once I get past 1000 miles it start to drop off, but even to the other side of the planet it isn't to bad.

I'm for the moment in touch with an ISP to try to get prices to install fibre in a apartment where i live.

The price that the property owner needs to pay is about 250 brittish pounds / apartment... There are eight apartments where i live. So that equals 250 * 8 in installation fee for diggin, fibre, cat 6 wires to every apartment etc.

Then maximum bandwidth we can buy is 1000 Mbit..
Prices is for Bredband (broadband) 1000 Down 500-1000/ Up 60-100 Mbit/s 799:- SEK
That would equal about 75 brittish pounds a month for that speed or 126 dollars a month..

Is that good or bad countrywise?

Kind regards Vyper

Doing a speedtest from my LT, wireless

And one from XP64 box, wired. Which should be 20Mbit Down and 0.5Mbit Up
Digital TV and phone also comes from the same 'old telephone wires'!
And pay €66,85 a month.

Verizon FIOS -- 25Mb/25Mb. My only problem is with servers that still transmit at a slow speed.

For the last 8 weeks or so my Demon ISP downloads have been slower than my uploads.

It is the download speeds I am getting so much trouble with, to the point I leave file downloads long times to come to me. I recently downloaded the ATI Catalyst Control 11.3 driver, with the AGP Hotfix, which was 59.2MBs. It took me 5hours and 24minutes ... which, by my calculation is about 60% of a V92Bis dial up modem speed.

This probably isn't fair since this is at school (Colorado School of Mines) near Denver. The school has a gigabit link to the world. My home was closer to the other Comcast posts and I will rerun tonight and post that too.

After many years with Verizon DSL and being in the bottom 1% of the US in speed I changed to Comcast as my ISP

Now my upload speed is faster than my download speed was with Verizon.
