faustina mara FACE BOOK - Great to see the number crunching game is on, heres hoping my numbers don't crunch too dramatically backwards. Anyhow you would think SETI would have awarded me few million for direct access to crop circle designers, hey SETI? Eme's the brakes. Lets see if we can save the planet whilst they are conversing with us,looking like its all left in my hands according to medjugorjes message a couple of days ago. Yeah, true never a dull moment in my life, THANK GOODNESS, ANUBUS IS my protector whilst going for a walk in the local neighbourhood! NOTHING LIKE HEAVENLY BEINGS BEING HERE, NOW TODAY! xxx |

Reading the thread title is considered important, 16 weeks is not what's meant by 12th Anniversary. But we do tend to be supportive of those who have difficulty with the English language. Joe |

Well seems someone started something like the 12 year club. I was going to, but this is as close as it needs to be. So here is my question for each of you. What did you start crunching with? I used a Pentium II. I still have it on my desk as a paper weight. |

iMac 333, iMac 350, and PowerMac 5500 were the ones I used early on. I still miss the original SETI@Home screensaver although it didn't take long to realize that running without the screensaver going helped a lot. Plus SETI Classic = 21,082 WUs |

... Aye, me too, now that you mention it. It sure does fly, doesn't it? It'll be fun crunching into our 70's+, one hopes. (I think I actually started this with either a 486DX50 or a 1st gen pentium, can't recall now) Wonder what hardware we'll be running then? Boggles the mind. Happy 12th to all! |

As John Hartford so eloquently put it, "My, My, How the Time Do Fly"! Glad to be here, I will be re-installing CUDA on my Ubuntu after I get moved. My XP had to be revamped after it ate a disk. I am getting used to Linux, and generally like it. I may have to load VM to get so I can play WoW, though ;-) Thanks for everybody's work, though. A good gang to be a part of. |

So here is my question for each of you. What did you start crunching with? That was my first SETI CPU as well. Just remembered that my 12th anniversary passed when I saw this thread. Also just completed a third box around a "spare" mainboard and GPU hoping for some Green Bank work. What a nightmare that was (mainboard was a warranty replacement, lemon right out of the box with a short in it, and blew three power supplies.) So even after a dozen years, the interest is is still strong. :^) |

I started with a Compaq pentium 1. That lasted until 2004 when I finally got the P4 that is still running now. Gave the Compaq to the inlaws and it gave them a blue screen of death after one month. [/quote] Old James |

386sx45 for me and an old IBM thinkpad something or other vintage 98, which still runs my kiln, 386 is long gone though..... Then I had to take a long break while I was working in various countries with (at the time) hard to get internet access locations, so now that my life is nice and stable again, I'm BACK! Pity I can't recall the password and user details for my old account. :-( I had forgotten what fun it is......... Thomas. Edit: on reflection I thing the 386 might even have been a 25Mhz one, don't the 45 came in an SX version just the DX. |

Well seems someone started something like the 12 year club. I was going to, but this is as close as it needs to be. Greetings, My starter was a 486DX2/66 with, if I remember correctly, 1 MB of RAM. First WUs were taking an average 85 hours to crunch. My i7 is a super computer compared to that dinosaur. ;) Even the Core2Duo is so much faster... Keep on BOINCing...! :) P.S. I still have the working MoBo, CPU and RAM. If I rebuilt it, I could only use it for gaming or some such. It's NOT Y2K compliant. Could not be fixed with some code I found on the Internet for the PCs at work, way back when... CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L.
