I've had major eye problems for more than a few years now.

The one cataract surgery I've had was the least intrusive or worrisome.

If I hadn't had to stay put for a second procedure immediately after the cataract was done, I would have been in/out in 20 minutes!

No worries at all.

Let them put the lense in..........

It seems like the ultimate intrusion into your vision..........

DO IT...........

Unless you wish to suffer us with something else for the rest of your life.

Just DO it.

God has given the surgions on this earth the ablility to give your eye a new lens, pleas let them do it.........

Mark is right, although Catarct Surgery seems like a huge intrusion (and frankly, would scare me to death), it is now very routine.

My wife had it done 2 years ago, it took about 30 mins under a local anaesthetic, she was home again the same afternoon and her eyesight was much improved. It wasn't painful and as they dilate the pupil of your eye you can't see what they are doing (probably this is for the best).

Best wishes,

Tom

To be a little punny.......

'Eye, captain.'

Nothing to fear but the best.

As eye have told...('nuther pun).

What God has given our medical folks as tools are simply amazing these days.

My Grandmother died in an old folks home......blind. Today, there is no need for that to happen. Being blind, of course.

I probably inherited the cataract fault in my genes. It was rather young in my life.....early 50's.....that it came home to roost.
Probably accelerated by some of my youthful excesses.

But, God and modern medicine have afforded some relief.

Just do it.......anybody who can.

Life without the sight to see it is very hard.

Just an update, tomorrow at 8:15 AM I will get the cataract in my left eye removed. It will be wonderfull to be able to read with that eye again, And It will make reading my calipers and micrometers and visually inspecting my parts a lot easier.

I Dont like going under the knife for any reason. And ive put this off for at least 2 years. But seeing how Mark had is eyes done and talking to him about it, Im glad im getting it done.

I will let you all know how I did sometime tomorrow afternoon. The good thing is Im off work for a week. The bad news is I wont get paid:) but still a week off work is nice.

I am glad if my discussing it has taken some of the edge off for you, James.
Let us know how you are doing after the surgery is done and you have had some time to rest.

Best wishes.

I look back a few years to when my grandmother had her cataracts "done" She was a fine needle woman, but due to the cataracts couldn't see to enjoy her hobby. The operation was done, one eye at a time, and after the first had heeled, a matter of days, she started a few tentative stitches with what for her was a fairly coarse yarn, it was a struggle but she managed it. (remember she has only one "good" eye at this stage). Come the second operation and eye two was sorted, a few days to get over operation and she was back to working with yarn that most would struggle to see - what a delight for all, not least for gran who was not sitting there moaning about not being able to see, the shop supplying her the yarn.
In short, I don't think you'll have any problems with reading your callipers after the op, indeed you'll be wanting some finer ones :-)

Thank you my friends for the well wishes. It went better than I expected. Was actually kind of cool. When I went into the room it was cold as heck but they wrapped me up in warm blankets and snug my arms down so I coulndt move them. then the Dr. taped my head to the table so I coulnd move it. Then they injected some time warp drug into me that was awesome. Dr, said the operation was 20 minutes, But i think he lied:) Im sure i fell asleep twice and woke up when I snored. But all i saw was bright colored lights. I do know when he put the new lens in though because he said thats it were done.

I came home and took a nap then was going to post but forgot today was outage day. But I can say my left eye has allready improved. I can sit and read print on screen that was but a blur before. Please excuse any typos. Im wearing a cage that restricts my vision. I can see thru the holes but not much. its there to keep me from rubbing my eye.

I am glad I finally got the nerve to do this. And if I knew it was this easy i would have done it 2 years ago. So if any of you out there have a cataract, GET IT Taken care of. You wont regret it.

And again thank you to all of you who wished me well.
