I'd like to recruit some friends to run SETI@Home and have the credits and stats go into one account. (That account is already attached to a group.) Can this be done without opening up my control of the account to everyone?

Can my SETI@Home "Weak account key" help me get around this issue? I'd guess so. See also Weak account key in the BOINC wiki. But why don't your friends just join your team (I suppose that's what you mean by saying "group") with their own accounts? Gruß, Gundolf ____________ Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Can my SETI@Home "Weak account key" help me get around this issue? Yes, I meant "team" where I wrote "group." My own account belongs to a team. I wanted to gather me and my friends into the one account that belongs to a team. So it's essentially a team within a team. The question is, do they need my account's password to do this? I had already read the Wiki page about the "Weak account key," but it's not completely clear to me on how the other accounts are first set up. Thanks, Jim ____________

Can my SETI@Home "Weak account key" help me get around this issue? In any of several ways. The easiest all around would be to set up an account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file for them to drop into their BOINC data directory. If this file is there (any proper account file for any project, actually) BOINC will pick it up the next time it starts and add the project. NOTE: It has to go in the same directory as the client_state.xml file. The data directory is listed in one of the first messages after a BOINC startup. The contents of the file should look like: <account> <master_url>http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/</master_url> <authenticator>WEAK AUTHENTICATOR GOES HERE</authenticator> <project_name>SETI@home</project_name> <project_preferences> <resource_share>100</resource_share> <no_cpu>0</no_cpu> <no_cuda>0</no_cuda> </account> ____________ BOINC WIKI
