Assimilators aren't running, so disk space may be getting scarce, so there's no room for new work. Plenty of tapes to split, splitters are running, but no work of consequence being produced. So slightly more graceful than getting weird errors on the client side. With number of results in the field & waiting for validation I would guess this might be what is happening. Then again it would be several things. Maybe in their other other other spare time they could add new messages to the server page indicating when things are stopped by their watchdog process.
