I put 2 GTX295s in one system that previously had 2 GTX280s.RAC has gone up some, but not really what I was expecting, only about 3000 more. I was expecting them to perform almost as well as the GTX580s. I also noticed this one is producing a lot of errors. I was running 2-3 units per card, then changed it to 1 each, but looks like still getting errors today. Another system I put in 2 GTX295s which had 2 GTX8800s before. Have 2 monitors hooked up to this one and it showed both GTX8800z. Now when I hooked up the 295s it showed 3 295s, and then later it shows on Seti as just 2 cards ( of scourse 1 295 shows as 2)I have another rig which has 2 GTX580s, wfich has dropped RAC since the 11th. AT some point I did change the time for switching tasks from 60min to 300 ( not really sure what this does) and I just changed it back a few moments ago. This is the only thing I changed that I can think of.Oops, actually I did overclock the cards to 850 from the 812 that I had been running them at, but this would seem oppisite of the expected result. Any help here appreciated. |

Any help here appreciated. Lets see as I run 2 GTX295 single pcb (v2)cards, Check for dust in the cards, I have one that made some errors and It was cause of dust, Also what driver are You using? And are You using optimized software(Lunatics) or stock? The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Last I remember reading, you could not successfully run more than 1 WU per GPU on 200 series cards. Try stock speed settings and check your temps...see if that gets rid of the errors. Then ramp back up if all is OK. Also, by upgrading to the 295s, have you overtaxed your power supply? They are gonna use more juice than the 280s. If in doubt, get yourself a Killawatt and check to see how close you are to your PSUs maximum rating. Gotta keep the rails up or you will start getting errors. The computer a a 1000w psu, so plenty there. I did back it down to one wu per card 2 days ago, but they are still generating errors. I just got the cards a few weeks ago and made sure they were clean when I got them prior to installation.I am using the latest geoforce 266.58 drivers, and I do use Lunatics. I give .25 setting on the cpu to feed the cards. Still cant understand why the other card does not show up on the one system. Ran 2 monitors on the old gtx8800s and both shoed up and ran fine. At first I thought maybe a bad card, but I bought extras, so I put one of the others in, and same thing. The control panel for Nvidia does not show SLI per se, but allows me to use multiple monitors, or combine for better results on one (SLI). It is set for multiple monitors. |

Ok what's the brand name is the psu? And how many amps are on each of the +12v rails? It should be between 25A and 30A at the very least, On each rail, As these cards do use the juice, Just not as much as the 470, 480, 570, 580 & the 590. Heck I'm beginning to think the 295 can give a 590 a run for It's life from what I've read online and I've got at least 3 that are faster too. I give 0.04 to feed mine and I do My crunching for 8 hours a night. I have SLI disabled here, But then one gpu is more than enough. Well Yer driver is ok, from what I've read mixing older and newer cards can be done, But It requires a cc config file in the seti project folder to allow the use of all gpus and not just merely the newest gpus and in My case a lunatics program(x32f) that can also do Fermi as I also have a Superclocked Evga GTX460. Not sure the brand. It is a Dell XPS 730 H2C with the stock psu. I don't know how to tell the amps on each rail, unless maybe it is on a label on the psu. I will have to take a look and see. |

Yes It should be on a label on the psu Itself, Reputable psus do put their capacities on a label on the psu. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

If it's still the Dell OEM that came in it, it will be a Dell U662D/UR006/H1000E-01 it's produced by Flextronics. Here's the report for it's 80+ testing. It should be putting out 18A on the rails.(5 total?! A-E) Traveling through space at ~67,000mph! |

That can't be a recent psu, In any case It's not adequate for a GTX295 card, a good psu for a pair of 295 cards, for example is an Enermax 1020w or a 1050w and above psu. Something with 18A rails will die, As watts alone is not good enough. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Here's where a single 12v rail PSU removes all doubt. With multiple 12v rails, you could be overloading the one rail that a GPU is on, creating a problem even though the total draw is less than the PSU's maximum rating. I learned this the hard, hair-pulling way a number of years ago, and have only purchased single rail PSUs since. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Indeed, gotta love a 60A single rail, then you don't have to worry about any of it lol. So glad I got my PC Power & Cooling it has ran many many things over the years and I've never had to worry about it. Traveling through space at ~67,000mph! |
