Reprise of the rules.
The winner of the previous round posts a picture and a question about it. Typically "where.
You may not use "tin eye" or similar reverse image look up sites.
Please do not use EXIF data from the image to help. (note to posters, please remove EXIF data). This can include titles and location data.
Please do not allow 24 hours to pass between clues.
Questions deserve an answer (with the exception, of course, of directly asking for the answer).
We will have to figure out how to deal with winners that go AWOL.
Clues may be text or photographic.
Contestants may use text searches to look for images (in particular images.google.com is allowed to be searched via text searches).
There is no rule about having visited a place. If you have visited a place (or not) and instantly recognize where the picture is, go for it.
If you post a picture of a previously entered place that is easily recognizable as that place, you get to pick a different picture.
Please try to choose a picture and question where it is possible someone else will know or be able to research your answer. For example a picture of someone in your family and asking for the name will be just impossible for anyone else to get.
PM The winner.

Hello, my friends! This one should be fairly easy.
In this photo, the building is sadly boarded up. What was it called, in better days?

Yay, we're back up! I owe y'all a hint for yesterday.
This building has inspired several fictional buildings of a similar purpose. |

Reminds me of a few old school buildings I have seen.

Correct!
Inspiration for Lovecraft's Arkham.
Built in 1874, the buildings were destroyed in 2006. There is now an apartment complex, with the re-used facades.

Ah the land of ice and snow. I feel the cool wind
just now blowing past my freezing ears...
This was a must see place when I was a child,
and my Mum and Dad saw to it that we would
be forced to troop out to visit this in the summer.
