I watched this broadcast the other night on David Suzuki's program The Nature of Things. Another fine production from our CBC. The habits of urban raccoons are quite astounding and there are a few surprises in their behaviours. Enjoy Angela aka The Crazy Raccoon Lady http://www.cbc.ca/documentaries/natureofthings/video.html?ID=1815680672 I do not fight fascists because I think I can win. Robert, that was FANTASTIC!!! I watched it right away and I loved every minute of it!!! When Eric wakes up, I will watch it again with him. Just for the record, I'm doing my best to slow down this trend of increasing cognitive capacity in raccoons. I provide absolutely no challenges for my "little woodland friends". All they have to do is scale my backyard fence to get a treat. So when the Raccoon Overlords rule over us all, please blame those who resisted the raccoons, not those of us who succumbed early to their many charms. Robert, my friend, thank you for such an excellent treat. CRL |

I'm so glad you could view this. Sometimes, things like this seem to get blocked at the border for whatever reasons. I was really amazed when I watched this. Who knew the little beggers were as intelligent as that? You might be onto something when you speak of our new overlords. Hmmmm... all this time I expected the overlords would come from space, the final frontier. I do not fight fascists because I think I can win. I fight them because they are fascists. Who knew the little beggers were as intelligent as that? Oh I knew!!! I used to keep spare birdseed outside in a really thick glass jar with a very wide mouth and a very tight lid. Their hands didn't seem wide enough to unscrew that jar in any traditional way, so I figured it was safe to put seed in it. I have no idea how they learned to unscrew that jar, dump out all the birdseed and pick out all the dried corn. The first night I thought it was a fluke. I figured maybe I hadn't screwed the lid on tightly enough. Maybe they just got lucky. The second night I no longer blamed myself. |

I forgot to mention that when I "send in an expert", it adds a whole new level of meaning to the "Honey, DOO!!!" list... |
