Good afternoon.

I wonder if there is a way to bring the packets to the computer program in my work. For the proxy can not connect because the site is not authorized. Only in my home I have free connection. but the machine work I can leave the lit all night and process packets faster.
I could help you know if this is possible.
Or is it possible?

Thanks

First and foremost you should get permission to run BOINC on your work computer. If the company forbids it, then it can be considered stealing from the company.

Then, the manual process of transporting workunits is very complex. Personally, I would recommend to simply not run it on any computer that is blocked because the manual process is rather involved.

To manually transfer on a machine that will also be running BOINC (such as your home computer):

1. Install two copies of BOINC in separate locations on the home computer. Make sure both copies do not run at the same time. Copy 1 can be for home. Copy 2 can be for work.

2. Load copy 2 and let it fetch work. Once it's work fetch has been completed, exit BOINC. Copy the entire data directory to an external source such as a hard drive or USB stick. The data directory location will depend on where you installed your second copy of BOINC. You can then allow copy 1 to run on your home computer.

3. When you go to work, install BOINC on your work computer and make sure it isn't running. Copy the entire data directory to your work computer. Once all the work has been completed, copy the work back to your external source.

4. When you bring the finished work home, stop BOINC copy 1 on your home computer. Copy the entire data directory over to BOINC copy 2, then run BOINC copy 2 and allow it to return all the finished work and fetch more.

Return to step 1.

As you can see, it's rathe involved and complicated. I wouldn't recommend doing it as you can easily screw things up if you make a mistake on a single part of the process.

Given that your company blocks sites through its proxy server, they may not be happy about you installing something like boinc. If they're going to allow you to install it, maybe they'll make an exception to the allowed sites, as well. That's probably the best way to go about this. Just ask real nicely ;)

If you think it will help, you can mention that it can be set up to only use the internet connection during specific hours. For example, it can be set to only connect after everyone goes home, and stop the connection before anyone comes in. e.g. 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
