Based on that are you able to see my current numbers? Can you tell me if my numbers would be considered good or bad or average based on what those that care believe or based on what you feel is good, bad, average ? The higher the RAC the better it is then ?

Pretty much, the higher the RAC the more you have done recently. The higher the credit, the more you have done total.

If you click on the "account" tab of the website, it should give you your current numbers. And to the left of each post is your total and RAC. Click on someones name and you can get a list of computers, their hardware configuration, and how much work each has done.

Although the long term average of the RAC is the performance of your computer the instantaneous reading depends on when the tasks are validated and the UTC time of day.
This means the RAC figure can vary considerably.

Another thing that can seem strange is that the total credits and RAC may not be the same on your computer and those displayed here on the site. The figures displayed on your computer are the figures before the last report or request.

If my RAC should be around 12k and I am currently at 1500 I have a long way to go. Although it is rising each day....I am not sure how long you have to be doing it before it starts to slow down and becomes a more even reading (taking into account that when validation happens changes things a bit)

About 4-5 weeks at a steady crunching rate for RAC to get close to your actual output.

I also would like to add that server problems at SETI can effect RAC. A lot of us are still recovering from the last outage. Most of us had our RAC take a big dump when we had a long dry spell with no work.

Some of you have a RAC of 200k plus...I assume this is because those have more than one system crunching at a time ? I wonder what the electric bill is for running all those systems at the same time provided they are at the same location. Ouch!!!

When you click on someones name in the forums it shows more detail such as the number of seti@home jobs completed...when you look at my name it doesn't give that detail. Anyone know why ? is it time based ? I thought maybe it was due to some being a donor but that is not the case as others that are not donors have that info.

LOL....ouch can be the operative word when looking at the monthly bill.
Had to run a dedicated 50 amp 240v circuit to the crunching den to power them safely too.
You can view my rigs by clicking on my user name. They are not hidden.
My last power bill was about $260.00...
That was with shutting 7 of my 8 rigs down during the day and crunching at night to take advantage of lower time of use electric rates.

I suspect with recent GPU upgrades and back to crunching full time my next bill will be $400.00 +.

The work that you see there is from the Seti 'classic' days...pre-Boinc.
When the project went to Boinc based operation, everything was reset.
Since you joined the project recently, you do not have any 'classic' work to display.

User RAC... according to the last time i had enough RAC to post here it was the sum of all machines attached under my account.

Obviously that changed and somehow it's not the case any more... my account page shows that i got a RAC of 44.52...

Now let's look at my host that are attached:

#1 RAC == 0.09 +
#2 RAC == 46.03
USER RAC == 46.12

Must be me since my math doesn't add up...

Hi Mark,

i just had the time to dedicate a few resources to S@H without wasting to much resources on important research projects, so i figured i run a few WUs...

Nevertheless, it's not adding up and this is clearly messed up here.

Lovely to hear from you.

Would be interested on what kind of 'research projects' you are doing.

And the RAC thing is gonna always be off a bit, I suspect.

Might have to do with where a particular cruncher is on the RAC curve VS just the grand total. I don't think the two would ever be just toooooooo far apart.

I don't think the project RAC is calculated by adding up the total RACs of the individual rigs...each must be kept track of by themselves.

But that doesn't make any sense at all. Summing up all RAC over all machines attaches IS the user RAC. How come S@H is the only project forging that ?

Ahh...
Could there not be a difference (given the 4-5 week weighting formula) that there could be a difference between the RAC calculated for a given rig's production and the total RAC calculated on total credits awarded?

I am not a mathematician...I am just trying to reason why the two totals might be slightly different.

Well, i'm not a mathematician either, but why would there be any difference ? It makes no sense at all.

In my case, I think it's just too dynamic.
8 high production rigs reporting.

I loaded my user page with it's totals.
Showed 267,025.23 RAC.

Went to my computers....
Just long enough to jot down all the individual rig's RACs.

Went back to my user page and reloaded.

Here's what I got.

First total RAC was 267,025.23

The individual totals added up to 266,248.73..

And when I went back to my main page and reloaded, the total RAC had already changed to 267,006.53
In a matter of less than a minute or two.

And it will probably change in my sig every time you reload the page.....
