'Stralia Bai-bee! The Opera house was the best hall I've ever sung in: great acoustics and great feed back for the performers.

Wow. Good on ya Qui-Gon, that's brilliant. I'm an Aussie and I haven't even been to the opera house. (It is 940 km away though.)

Well, I'm going home tomorrow. I miss my own bed. Sydney was nice (expensive but nice).

A short delay in Sydney was largely made up in flight by good tailwinds.

Someone ordered great weather for us in Sydney: upper 40ºs to lower 70ºs and sunny each day; not bad for Winter.

The singing was nice, but the highlight was the Opera House, which has the best acoustics I've ever experienced for both the audience and the chorus.

One storm (Iselle) went by with little overall damage, but another one (Julio) is yet to come. We hope it continues to veer North, away from the Islands.

My second major trip of the year is over, and I had a great time. The hardest part for me, as always, was the plane ride to and from. Otherwise, I met an old friend (from here) and saw some wonderful museums and sights. But it's good to be back home.

Oh, those poor folks on the Big Island. Two (and a half?) hurricanes in the last few months have blown by, and now a lava flow is threatening homes. I hope things turn out well for them.

That's true: if a finger of lava heads toward your home, you can douse it with water from fire hoses, build berms or trenches or offer a small pig or goat to Pele, but nothing will stop it (though I'm not sure anyone has done that last thing lately).

Well, I did my second (and last) marathon last Sunday. I beat my 2013 time and finished much stronger than last year, but I don't want the jarring to my feet, shins, and knees, nor the fatigue to my thighs that 26.2 miles brings.

Julie, you replied to an old (very old) message in this thread, which confused me, but when I checked it out it sent me down memory lane about a good year skiing. And that reminded me that I've been watching the snow at Tahoe for a few weeks now; it is looking good so far.

Also, I didn't want my post count to end in "13", since my upcoming Reno trip needs as much luck as I can muster.

The skiing was OK at Mt. Rose, while the snow was thin (and slushy in the afternoon). All-in-all though, this was another great Reno/Tahoe Spring trip.
