Hi JC, QG, SV, KB, T, etc. I and my family have bought Dells for over 10 years now and generally found them to be fairly reliable. The one drawback is that they are hard to upgrade or tweak. This is because they use custom made motherboards from Intel that are locked, and they are fussy about which memory you can use. Also unless you buy the full size tower case versions, you cannot fit a double width X full length video card because of the shroud around the CPU. But having said that, I reckon that they are generally OK. Those are my principles, and if you don't like them ... well, I have others. Groucho Marx 1895-1977 I also have mine, and if you don't like them ... tough, live with it. Chris S 2017 Member of UCB Charter Hill Society |

At the places I've worked they have had a mixture of machines, HP, Dell, Apple. Drives failed a bit, but you can't blame the maker for that. I think I've only had two true MOBO failures one on a HP and one on a Dell. On the HP, running as a file server, about a month before if totally died it started returning w/u's that did not validate. Then one day we came in and it was flashing the keyboard lights and quite dead. Four years later the drive still lives in an eternal case at my house. The Dell was bought used and then put into a dusty environment and never had the dust bunnies blown out. ![]() ![]() |

I just had it explained to me that global warming due to excess carbon dioxide is making it snow harder this winter. Go figure. |

Most years I worry about not enough snow; this year it may be too much. Certain roads are closed or require chains. |

Most years I worry about not enough snow; this year it may be too much. Certain roads are closed or require chains. LOL Isn't that the truth! And more is coming, they are saying another 1-2 feet of new snow at about the 6500-7000 foot level, with obviously more than that with the next storm coming in tonight. I hate when I have to travel to Sacramento during the winter, as I hate putting chains on, and the fact that not very many people are smart when driving in the snow, causing accidents. ![]() |

I ate well, and had lots of fun, but didn't get to ski much. On the other hand, no injuries this year. |

I'm already counting down to next year. I'm hoping we have winter storms like we did last year, sure would be nice to stay out of a drought for more than a year or 2. LOL ![]() |

I'm already counting down to next year. Just got my plane tickets for next year, but I won't start looking at snow reports until August. (I do, however, peek at the Northstar webcams on occasion; there's still lots of snow up there.) |
