So, because i changed it to 2 wu at a time it gives me short tasks? Because if I only get short tasks anyway then this is beneficial, also is buying a nvidia tesla c2070 better than a gtx 570 if i want to only use the cuda and not games

And what exactly you needed to "figure it out"??
What was the problem?

The problem was i had installed lunitics but boinc wasn't making my gpu to 2 wu at once. i then realised i needed to put lunitics in the seti@home project folder. I am also NOT stealing computing time for all those who think I am.

No, it just depends on what kind of tasks are available at the moment (and everyone will get the same "type" as you if asking the servers at the same moment)
The "kind of tasks" depends of the radio signals recorded (how telescope moved during the recording)

Because if I only get short tasks anyway then this is beneficial

Why?

also is buying a nvidia tesla c2070 better than a gtx 570 if i want to only use the cuda and not games

I don't think Tesla will have (almost) any benefit if using (almost) the same GPU
Too much money for little benefit.

Check the Top computers and see what they are using:

Usually Lunatics' Unified Installer (Lunatics_Win64_v0.38_setup.exe)
proposes automatically the right place to install:
...\projects\setiathome.berkeley.edu\

It reads it (the BOINC Data directory) from the Registry:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Space Sciences Laboratory, U.C. Berkeley\BOINC Setup]
"DATADIR"="H:\\BOINC-Data\\"

I am also NOT stealing computing time for all those who think I am.

I can't consider using your mother's computer as "stealing" ;)
Just be careful to not ruin some important work she may have on it :)

P.S.
The strange thing is that you want more work done (by 2 tasks/GPU, by new GPU)
but "your" computer processed too few tasks recently.
I wonder why?

I am only able to run boinc when mum is not around (i am not home at the moment) that is why i have processed few tasks recently, mum and you do not need to worry about me ruining her files because i am sufficiently computer knowledgeable to not do that.
The reason I want to know whether a tesla c2070 or gtx 570 is better because i can then make that my secondary card and boinc will still utilize it because that will be the more powerful card. Because our current card (gts 240) is sufficient for most everyday tasks my mum will not notice boinc running (except for the noise the secondary card makes, i may underclock it, is a good idea?).
I could also say the noise is coming from our main, less powerful card because it can be used to run graphics software easily.
If i can run more tasks a one time then i get more productivity in less time, because i am only running boinc 20% of the time i had my way i would run boinc 100% of the time.
I hope I have explained this enough for you.

I if receive short tasks anyway then my gpu can handle 2 at a time and will get them done quicker than one at a time.

It is extremely dishonest to go behind your mother's back and do something with her computer that she does not want to do. Then to cover this up, you are thinking up lies to tell her about the noise coming from her computer. Deceit and lies are no means to justify the ends.

I know what you are going through, as I used to do it with my girlfriend's mom's computer back in 1993 (only it was the forbidden AOL service and not SETI that I was running without her knowledge). Still, when she found out, she was very upset. Personally, I can't say that it was worth the loss of trust, and I would think the same would apply to you and your mom.

Beyond even that, SETI@Home does not condone what you are doing. The first rule of running BOINC/SETI:

Run SETI@home only on authorized computers

Run SETI@home only on computers that you own, or for which you have obtained the owner's permission. Some companies and schools have policies that prohibit using their computers for projects such as SETI@home.

(My emphasis added with the underlining). Your mother owns the computer. It is her right to run her computer as she wishes, including applications she does not want on her computer. It's not right to do it anyway, and SETI@Home should not be offering support to any user that has admitted to not owning the computer.

I'm glad someone else noted that the user was intentionally attempting to circumvent the PC owners passwords and as stated usage agreement with the user. Your mother doesnt want it so you'd best listen to your mother and stop messing with her computer
