HI, old Seti member from years ago, just come back. When I started, years ago, you downloaded some-think, your computer sorted it out, then told you you connect to internet(Seti) to upload results then download new program to be sorted out, now I believe you have to keep connected to the internet all the time, is this correct, as I am on 3g, dangal, 15Gs a month, cannot be on line all time to sort program out, is there a way to download, then turn internet off, but still run program, if that makes sence

In BOINC advanced view, click on activity / network activity suspended. that should keep projects from calling home until you are ready

More to the point:

When connecting to the internet:
Connect to the internet.
Open BOINC Manager.
Change to the advanced view.
Activity Menu -> Network Activity Always Available.

When disconnecting from the internet:
Open BOINC Manager.
Change to the advanced view.
Activity Menu -> Network Activity Suspended.
Disconnect from the internet.

Please change your setting "Connect to internet every X days" to reflect the period of time between connections. You might also want to change "Keep enough extra work for X days" to be 1/10 to 1/2 of the Connect Ever X setting. In other words, if you expect to be able to connect every evening, change Connect every X to be 1 and Extra work to be about 0.5.

You should also change the setting for how much data is allowed to be transferred every N days to reflect your network connection charges. If BOINC would need to use more than this, it will stop requesting or reporting work until it has some available network space. If it does not need as much as you have told it to use, it will not use the extra bandwidth.

In the preferences you can also restrict the times of day at which BOINC is allowed to use the network. This might obviate the need for you to turn it on and off manually, with the Manager set to “Network activity based on preferences”.
