I installed Boinc, I signed up to Seti@home.
It gave me the Communication deferred error.
I tried adding LHC to see if Seti just didn't have any work, that didn't help.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling in protected mode, that didn't work.
I tried uninstalling 32 bit and installing 64bit, that didn't work.
I double & triple checked my firewall, everything seems fine there.

Also: This is the second machine that I am setting up (or trying to anyhow...). The first was an older model running XP and it seems to be doing just fine.

That's no error but an informational message. The first place to look when problems occur is the home page, where it says:

Workunit Server Crash
A disk failed on our workunit storage server, so downloads won't be working until the system recovers (quite probably not until Monday).

And as far as I know (which isn't very far:-), LHC has no work either.
