One wonders if Seti software is able to use MacOs system. It should since the main frames of most responsible research projects are based in Unix, the core of MacOs operating system. Next, other NASA projects exploring the cosmos for the strands of carbon use a completely different technology based on physical barriers to contaminating radio interference. I wonder if the current methodology is flawed? |

what causes you to draw such a conclusion. Unable to install> something else. the BOINC software is pretty simple to install. If you are having problems installing then perhaps asking for help would work better than some vague accusation In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Why wouldn't they support Macs if there's an entire Mac Help section dedicated to the computers? Have you even read the rest of the posts right here in the Macintosh forum indicating that indeed it works (but some people need help)? [Edit] Ah, I see. You just signed up today and you missed the front page news that SETI's radar-blanking server has gone down, thus is not producing any new work at the moment, and you mistakenly took this personally as no work for your Mac. From the front page: radar blanking problem hampers work production |

The project ceased development for Mac OS a couple of years ago—but because there have been no major changes to the work-unit format since then, the old Multibeam (CPU) apps continue to work fine. There is no official Astropulse app for Mac, but there is a volunteer-compiled version available (thanks to Dotsch): see the sticky thread at the top of this forum. |
