Hi,

While looking for a optimized application for Seti@home and installing it. I missed the line about wait before install the app till work is done.

So i lost 10 days of workunits that was in the que.
On the "my results"page this work has the status "running". The client didn't report work as false.

Is it possible to redownload the so called running tasks?
Or if that isn't possible how do i correct it , eg is it possible to repost workunits as faulty.

Without the "resend results" option on server side (I think they turned it back off), you won't be able to get that work again. You can however get it to time out immediately by detaching from Seti and reattaching. Then all work will show as "client detached" (reattaching does this, not detaching).

Hi,

I don't know how or why...
But I managed to get it back ...

what i did.
-stop boinc and running tasks.
-copy the VLAR files that are now in the directory (4). (make a backup)
-delete the seti@home application. + files (all users/app data/boinc.......)
-copy the backuped VLAR's to original location.
-start boinc and get new work. (in my case for 10 days)
-all (16 = including the 4 backuped) running tasks are back and "send date/time" is now set to today.

nothing lost.
a nice to know ??
or a "on purpose feature".???

Or is this what you ment by detaching en reattache?

So now i will complete these tasks with the "stock application" after that i'll change the app.

Just copying files around isn't going to work. There's this file called client_state.xml in the main BOINC Data directory that holds a record of all tasks per project. If this file doesn't hold a record of the tasks in your Seti projects folder, then normally you wouldn't get anything back.

However, if the project still has the "resend lost tasks" (what I said was resend results) option on, server side --it's NOT an option in your preferences or in the BOINC client-- it's possible a check was made between what's on your system and what the database thinks should be on your system and you got the lost tasks resent.

A detach and reattach dumps (deletes (onherroepelijk)) all files from the project (applications and tasks, results ready to upload and ready to report) plus deletes the entry in the client_state.xml file. So for BOINC, once you're detached, there's no information about this project anywhere in its files. Once you reattach to the project, you're most probably coming back with the same hostID, so all the old work gets the notification that your client detached. This to make sure it gets send out immediately to other computers, instead of all that work needing to wait until it passed its deadline, before being sent out again.
