	The extra memory for synergy has arrived. I haven't put it in yet - will wait until next week as it's kinda busy right now. I know the server status page says 96GB are in the system - I'm just getting ahead of myself. It's official: the lab has a gigabit link down the hill. This has been the case for a couple weeks now, actually. It turns out this whole project ended up being easier/cheaper than expected, so the whole lab paid for it. This means we're sharing the link, and it's still separate from our hurricane electric traffic which includes the workunit/result distribution, and which is still capped at 100MBit/sec. So... the only advantage is that we no longer have to throttle our raw data transfers to our off-site data archives, but that may potentially be a huge gain - if we're data starved and/or need data from the archives, we can get it more quickly. We may still be able to put some of our hurricane traffic on this single link, but some hardware is needed (which Jeff is pricing out) and more political bridges need to be crossed. Oh yeah... that's for the reminder in the last thread. 	Quick question - is there a page somewhere that indicates the actual running sizes of the different databases? It might be nice, maybe even helpful, to get an idea of exactly how much data you guys are juggling. We often here about the server hardware and the specs, etc, how about some data throughput numbers? Thanks! -Neil ____________

	Pretty good news Matt, glad 2011 is treating you nicely so far by giving you some faster transfer speeds outside to storage. Would be nice if politics would allow you to use more of the bandwidth during off peak hours. Is that even possible? Not sure what other projects may have 24/7 connections like we do here. Would be nice too to see a burst bump on the line to accommodated a mass inflow of traffic for a few minutes. Either way all good news, especially results sticking around for 24 hours! ____________ Traveling through space at ~67,000mph!

	Thanks for the news, Matt!! The Gbit link up the hill is finally a reality, eh? 'Twould be loverly if you could transfer the Hurricane traffic to it and dispense with that bill..... Yes, but the Gbit link was paid for out of the general fund for all on the hill to use, as I understand it. Seti mustn't play piggy now...LOL. But, with a Gbit to play with, could be determined after some monitoring that it could accommodate Seti and all other users without strain. I know the surges imposed by Seti would be much shorter than the current situation entails. The only other caveat would be.....'be careful what you wish for'. If the Gbit link were available to the Seti servers, could THEY stand the strain? I, for one, would be willing to gamble it and work out the problems later, LOL. If there was a way to throttle the SETI traffic at the firewall level, such as QoS control, then I'd say go for it. Otherwise, it may make things worse.

	For Hosts on the server status page can you add the processor model, there are to many xeon models from socket 604 on up so one is left scratching head. also would be nice if you listed the motherboard model on home builds and server model on name brand rigs. would also like to see server load. i know, asking a lot :D ____________

	If the ongoing I/O issues with Oscar aren't a problem, could the back end of beta be turned on, and LEFT ON? - I've got about 9k worth of 'stones over there in "pending"... (about 30 WU's...) ____________ .
