What all do I need to transfer over from the old HD so as not to create a new computer ID with BOINC? Thank You! |

Greetings. If you intend removing the old HD, then move the two Boinc folders. C:/Boinc/; and C;/ProgramData/Boinc/ . One is the boinc program folder, the other project data files. The short answer though, is the Client_state file, in the ProgramData/Boinc folder which is often hidden. Hope that helps. Andrew |

he'll then need to install BOINC on the new HDD. Shutdown BOINC. then paste the data over the new install. restart boinc and you should have your data back In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

...install BOINC on the new HDD. Shutdown BOINC. then paste the data over the new install... Wrong sequence! First copy the BOINC data directory to the new HDD then install BOINC (pointing the installer to the data). At least do a "repair" install after pasting the data. Gruß, Gundolf |

Got it. A successful move! Just ran the work dry, installed BOINC, and copyed the DIR over. And here I thought there may be some secret registry keys! All the best, Aaron Lephart |

It may be too late but if you have more than one physical drive on you system, copy the data directory (C:/ProgramData/Boinc) to a separate drive, then do a repair install during which you will hit the ADVANCED button and point to the new drive that contains the data directory. This will insure that whatever happens on the system drive your data will be preserved. |
