Hi ALL, | |

Go to your app_info and look for the <cmdline> </cmdline> it may have something in there already. just add -hp to the line leaving a space between the -hp and any other cmd line items

i've been accused of that. It all depends on what that something is

Skildude's suggestion of changing the <count>1</count> to <count>0.5</count> or <count>0.25</count> will use more memory. That will cause 2 or 4 WUs at once to run, using 2x or 4x as much memory on the GPU.

The reason you can't get work all the time is that you've set it to only do Astropulse. You'll need to add the r177 information that you can find on the Numbers Crunching forum thread that Raistmer start. you'll have to edit the app_info to include the r177 and you might want to run the Lunatics unified installer v0.37 then edit your app_info to include the astropulse r456 and multibeam app r177. that way you'll be able to run on your CPU and GPU at the same time.

too much noise? the GPU is the noisy part of the system. when that fan gets around 50% you know you are running the GPU. The CPU doesn't create any more sound than if it were idling

So, skildude. I don't ask about what you think. ok

I did have a solution. Running the GPU creates noise, not the CPU. When you use your CPU to do Seti@home you'll get the same noise as if your CPU were idling. a very low whirring sound to be exact. A GPU on the other hand sounds like a freight train coming out of your PC when you start crunching. The whole reason for that is the fan. The fan speed ramps up as the GPU heats up. I keep my fan at around 65% speed. So I always have the noise though I also keep my GPU very cool.

I stopped WU's for my GPU because of heat. Now I have a new fan and would like to start again. How can I force SETI to send some work for the GPU? I have set preferences appropriately but only get work for the CPU's.

you'll need to install the app and app_info files from the Lunatics site.

you'll need to install the app and app_info files from the Lunatics site. Why? Colin is running the stock applications. @Colin: Meanwhile your CUDA host has downloaded some CUDA (GPU) tasks. You probably had to outlast the 24-hour offset. Gruß, Gundolf
