What are the contents of your app_info.xml file?

What are the contents of your app_info.xml file?

I cant tell you that, as I have reinstalled boinc and seti@home in preparation for another attempt.

Is there a source of more detailed instructions for installation of this optimized app?

You're not even telling which optimized application you're using, so that's difficult to answer. Where did you get it from? Don't they have instructions?

the files should be called "files to install" so it should be a no brainer. however if you are mixing AP and MB optimized apps you'll need to combine your app_info for them.

The app comes from Crunch3r's web site and is called SETI@Home MB NVIDIA CUDA V6.08.

There are the following folders.

1 cudalibs
2 Licenses
3 MB+AP
4 app_info.xml
5 setiathome-CUDA-6.08.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
6 README.TXT

The following is the text from the read me

REQUIREMENTS:

- latest NV CUDA enabled driver is needed (provides libcuda.so)

OPTION 1: copy the libraries in the cudalibs folder to /usr/lib64

OPTION 2: copy the libraries to some place where the system can find these (you need to modify the ld.so.conf)

OPTION 3: install the CUDA Toolkit

check if all library dependencies are solved using the following command (without quotes):
"ldd setiathome-CUDA-6.08.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu"

It might be possible that you need to install some other libraries that your linux distribution provides

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you want to run both SETI MB and AP take a look into the MB+AP folder which contains a modified app_info.xml.
(You need to download the matching AP app for your cpu.

I used, OPTION 1: copy the libraries in the cudalibs folder to /usr/lib64.

I then opened and copied contents of MB+AP (which was modified app_info.xml) to /Documents/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu

also copied setiathome-CUDA-6.08.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu to /Documents/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu

The command ldd setiathome-CUDA-6.08.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, results in

yeti@hairy:~$ ldd setiathome-CUDA-6.08.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu
ldd: ./setiathome-CUDA-6.08.x86_64-pc-linux-gnu: No such file or directory

The app_info.xml from the apps for Linux only has astropulse and standard MB. I don't see anything for Cuda.

<app_info>
<app>
<name>setiathome_enhanced</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>AK_V8_linux64_ssse3</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>
<app_version>
<app_name>setiathome_enhanced</app_name>
<version_num>603</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>AK_V8_linux64_ssse3</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
</app_version>
<app>
<name>astropulse_v505</name>
</app>
<file_info>
<name>ap_5.06r411_sse3_linux64</name>
<executable/>
</file_info>
<app_version>
<app_name>astropulse_v505</app_name>
<version_num>506</version_num>
<file_ref>
<file_name>ap_5.06r411_sse3_linux64</file_name>
<main_program/>
</file_ref>
</app_version>
</app_info>

This isn't going to help me get cuda stuff working in Gentoo. Granted it runs faster then the standard apps but I was trying to get Cuda working.
