Message 1059101 - Posted: 23 Dec 2010, 14:19:59 UTC - in response to Message 1058854.

Everything on the oscar-raid-restripe project went along swimmingly, and I was able to take care of several steps at home last night so that we could get the whole project back online in the morning today.

Yay!

Funny aside #1: at the exact moment I was finally comfortable enough to issue the command that blew away the old raid device from my home terminal, the network connectivity in my house randomly disappeared. Needless to say this incited minor panic as I suddenly couldn't reach any SETI servers and thought I must have somehow locked up the whole server closet. Eventually I figured out it was a local problem, my home router rebooted itself and I was back in business. Phew.

Been there myself. Thought I was a couple weeks ago, but it turned out just my BOINC host's NIC didn't initialize after a restart.

That's pretty much it for this week. It's officially the Xmas holiday starting tomorrow.

Good for you. I work in a public high school and I'm still at work today (Thursday).

Whatever you choose to do, enjoy! I'll be checking in from home over the "time off," but we're hoping it's kind of a "set it and forget it" kind of weekend instead of an "oh well everything will be down until we return on Monday" kind of weekend.

- Matt

Agreed on that, but I noticed just now the AP splitters are down and the Seti Results ready to send is pretty low. Oh well, I got a new WU, so I'm probably good for the weekend (said with a light-hearted :-p to all the supercrunchers).

Anyway, I hope that Carolyn, Oscar, and all the other electronic beasties let you take as much time off as you want, and that we don't need to hear from you again for a few days.

Merry Christmas (or whatever else you celebrate) to all the guys in the lab, the crunchers (casual and hardcore alike), aliens (except Vogons, Daleks, and the ones in Independence Day), and Men in Black.
