Heh I was thinking it looks like the Gladiator barracks in Gladiator. In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Sten, you are kiddin' me once again ;-) But this time I wont bother with extracting frames from my mini DV collection! I've been to Metéora two times so far and visited every one of those monasteries. And this one, Holy Monastery of Rousanou, is my favourite. [/quote] Congratz Zeus. And I am very very envious. This looks like a spectacular spot of the planet to visit. |

Thanks, and I am envious too cause I'm sure there is quite enough spectacular spots across the Atlantic which I'd like to visit. But here's another one... Name the place, it's not hard at all. Who the hell is General Failure and why is he reading my harddisk?¿ |

Yes. this rings a bell for me too. I kind-of recall this being a hot-water mineral spring precipitating gypsum and other carbonates. In europe somewhere; I defer to skildude who says Spain. |

You're on the right trail. It is in Europe, but not Spain. I was kinda hoping that I'll be able to hide clues a bit longer, cause this place has it's cousin in the Yellowstone. But no, you are immediately crossed over the pond ;-) Who the hell is General Failure and why is he reading my harddisk?¿ |

Bed time clue. Only a few thousand people have visited the place, although probably hundreds of thousands of people have seen the cabin. (and no, you cannot really see it from the nearest paved road). BOINC WIKI |

Are those redwoods in the background? |

It doesn't have a chimney so not used as a winter warming hut. The cabin has common vinyl windows so nobody is interested in preserving its 'unique historical nature'. Geographically I will start at a) in the US and b) New Mexico?. Is it 'famous' because some American 'legend' was born/grew up/died there? Does this have something to do with Billy the Kid? |

Geographically, you are on the right track. (more specific though). There were famous people there, however, none of the listed life events happened to them there. BOINC WIKI |

Today's clue: The reason for the fame is more closely related to photography than to painting. BOINC WIKI |
