Well I remember a catsitting decades ago - big tomcat not at all pleased at being transfered to a strange place for sitting and usually on the run - we ended up having to lock the front door because he knew how to open doors by jumping on the handle and then swinging the door open...

So christmas tree gets set up and next thing the cat is running up the stem to the top hang there for a few heartbeats and then very slowly toppled over. Priceless expression on the cat's face. He learned though - didn't try it again.

Miep's story reminded of a time many years ago when my mother was catsitting for my sister. We went for a visit, Mom opened the door and a grey blur went past us into the hall at about 600 mph. The blur was followed by my mother, at a slightly lower speed, saying quite loudly "that f**g cat". It was the one and only time I ever heard use the F word.

Not exactly caught. It came back on its own, when it discovered it couldn't reach the elevator button.

Nah !

Cat elevator

The first one needs a 2nd rail for stability in windy conditions, the 2nd one, Well that's a well trained cat who trusts the staff employee a lot.

Me I'm off to a special surprise dinner @ 2:00pm PST today, Then a hotel room for the night and then on the 6th Disneyland with the family for some fun. So Grace is in charge of the House here @ 2pm PST, I wonder should I leave the TV on for Her or not? Cause I won't be back until about 1am of 7th maybe and then I'll be very tired too.

Will she be alright on her own?

I've made sure of that, Grace has lots of food in Her bowls, water and Her automatic litter box has been serviced. All Grace'll lack is Me, She'll be able to lay in My swivel recliner and on My bed as She normally does.

Hey Vic, why don't you give a neighbor an extra key and ask him or her to look in on Grace now and again in your absence?

I don't have an extra key Angela, I have one for each exterior door, rekeying the house to one key for both doors would be nice as then I could do that, But It's not in the budget and the only person that I trust would be the manager. I don't think Grace will do much besides eat, sleep, look out the windows for birds(what else?) and use the litter box. Anything She could get to that She could scatter like salt and pepper shakers, etc, Has been put away already and I still need to take the trash out today. But then I'm almost ready to leave.

How about leaving your own key with the manager and then just picking up the key from him/her when you return from your trip?
