They pay for the food just by showing up! That is where my web cam comes in. Eagle

OooAhhh. Angela's pics of her Raccoon friends are facinating. Could you record a clip of your friends' visit and post a link thingy in this thread? Please please please?

I have some fox videos. Tomorrow I will post them on You Tube, and provide a link. I just need to take care of my snake cages first. This is the first winter the web cam has been there. I am looking forward to having video of the animals as they come to feed.

Message 1062119 - Posted: 31 Dec 2010, 22:14:49 UTC

Grr. I am a bit miffed at my neighbor.

I got home from a lovely lunch, to see an animal trap in front of my neighbors door.(duplex, complex of duplexes). Inside, was a grey squirrel.

I was staring at it, trying to figure out why someone would trap a squirrel. And also wondering if it was related to a couple of cat disappearances around here recently. He finally came out (from another neighbors) saying he had trapped it. and was going to relocate it(this area used to be orchards, many black walnut trees in the area still make fine homes for them) His reason:
He was tired of them "digging up his lawn".

I know I have gophers. And therefore he has gophers. And he is trapping squirrels for it???

I repeat.. Grrr. I love the little things scurrying through trees.. scolding, jumping around.. I understand if they get into homes they can be problems, but because of a lawn?!?!?

GRRR!!!

I think he needs to have the difference between squirrels and gophers explained to him. If he won't listen to you, he might listen to the state university extension service (if you are living in the US).

um.. I doubt anyone could explain anything to this guy. I was not going to try. Let me just say I would not be surprised if the squirrel was really destined for his frying pan.

Could you not report him to your equivalent of the RSPCA?

Good question (aspca/humane society/animal control.. all possible people I could run it by). I am not sure what he is doing is illegal. But GRRR!!!

They are.. "interesting" neighbors.

I have not yet met his brothers daryl and daryl yet. But I would not be shocked.

Not long ago a wife called the cops on her husband. He was trapping squirrels in his yard and drowning them in his fountain. I think he was mad because some of them got into his attic.

in the attic they can be destructive. I can actually be sympathetic to that, I know people who learned(the hard way) to not make friends with squirrels TOO close to the house. A lawn, in what used to be orchards(and honestly the black walnut leaves do more damage from acid than ANY squirrel would DREAM of)? Not so much.

I think the Al Bundy family came from around here (Married with children reference)
