I know what you mean Phud. If money was no object then yes, let's fire up every bit of kit we have. But of course it costs real money, and it just makes sense to maximise the return for the outlay.

Many may not agree, but in my honest opinion, it is not practical to run CPU only crunching any more. We NEED that ATI GPU app here ASAP. Seti get more work done, we spend less on electricity to supply that.

Certainly looking at reducing my power bills even further!

I may be able to power up a bit more once I get a New house, As then I can apply for the SASH: Single-family Affordable Solar Homes Program here in California, As I can qualify for a free 1-3KW Photovoltaic system which will cut the cost of My electrical by up to 75%.

You're thinking in terms of electric cost per credit. However, that's not how you're billed every month; it's power * time. I'm pretty sure CPU+GPU power > CPU power.

subsidized solar doesn't make sense, if it can't be done at full cost why do it?

You'd have to check out this website Here, A $30 electric bill is better than a $120 electric bill.

How much will the system cost me?

In some cases the SASH Program will cover the complete cost of the system. If not, GRID Alternatives will work with you to identify funding sources including grants and loans.

The main determinant of the size of the rebate for the solar electric system is income level. If your income level is less than 50% of the local median income, you may be eligible for a free 1 kW system. If your income level is greater than 50% and less than 80% of the local median income, you are likely eligible for a highly subsidized system. Click here to view median income for your county.

The following chart describes the specifics of the rebate levels. The "Solar Incentive level in Dollars per Watt" refers to how much of the up-front installation cost of a solar system that the California Solar Initiative (CSI) will reimburse, based on federal income taxes in the year prior. Photovoltaic systems for homes are sized in kiloWatts (kW), so, if the rebate level is $4.75 per Watt, and your system is designed to be 2 kW, you are eligible for $8,500 rebate towards the cost of your system.

SASH Program: Solar Incentives in $/Watt
Federal Tax Liability(Left)
CARE*-Eligible Homeowners(Middle)

Homeowners not eligible for CARE*(Right)
$0 $7.00/W $5.75/W $1-$1000 $6.50/W $5.25/W $1001+ $6.00/W $4.75/W

*If the Applicant qualifies for the CARE program but is not currently enrolled, GRID Alternatives will work with the Applicant to enroll them into the CARE program.

Now I'm just reposting this and It's only for those in California.

Well lets See the system would be Free for Me(I'd own It) as My income is very low and It would not be a subsidized system.

Maybe I don't get what You meant by a subsidized system, It would be installed on a house I'm looking at buying, Since the Photovoltaic panels that make up a system generate electricity during the day, I'd have a very small bill, Which is good and yes I'd still be attached to the grid and It would mean I wouldn't have to buy as much electricity as I used to.

I use seti for my primary heat source in the winter...
When I have everything going I usually end up with a $125 to $150 a month power bill. If I get down to two units crunching, like in the summer I can drop down to $85.

Ever since the Great Outage *lol* it's been kind of tough to keep the house warm when it gets down into the 20's (F). Some projects seem to have a limited amount of WU.

I think my cost is about 7.9 cents per Kw.

If I take a lot of long warm showers and bake a lot of pizza, I'm sure that can have a cumulative effect too.

Konata and Tsuraku: You are my primary heat source: everytime you talk about something, you make me wanna jump the walls. Mark's kitties included.

Please try to write and talk comprehensible english.

As you seem to have an US flag on your post each time.
