hi all, I'm new to SETI @ home and I joined a group SETI @ Barcelona. This is well done?

I've been looking at different stats on my profile and saw that the 4 had finished work said to have had a computer error, that a which may be due?

Joining groups is a personal preference. If you enjoy working with the team, then it was a wise choice to join the team.

I see you're using a dual-core mobile Pentium chip, so I assume you're using a laptop. My first guess is that your laptop is overheating and unable to finish a workunit accurately. You may need to limit usage to a single core or throttle usage low so that the CPU doesn't overheat. You may also want to see if you can have your laptop cleaned of any dirt and dust inside the unit.

you might also want to make sure your computer isn't allowed to hibernate or go to sleep this tends to cause this as well

credits are just for bragging rights. there's prizes???? nope no prizes only the good feeling you get by donating your CPU cycles to do scientific work

No, the credit here isn't a form of currency to buy anything with. Credit is just the total number of points you've earned, sort of like video game points.

After you process a task and you upload it back to the server, your result is matched up with a quorum partner. If both results match up closely enough, you both get credits.

Credits are based upon the number of FLoating Point Operations Per Second, or FLOPS count.

I believe credits are based on FLoating point OPerations or FLOP count.

You get "paid" for the miles you drove not for the speed. ;-)

You're right. I've made that mistake before too. You'd think I would have remembered that. :/

It doesn't help to post the same question twice. See my answer in your own thread.
