I have two machines that had been doing most of the SETI@Home crunching. A few weeks ago, I added 3rd machine, an i5 MacBook Pro. However, despite my configuration, the MAC OSX client does not maintain the 10 days of work I want it to maintain ... it only requests enough work for the available cores. My other machines are fine ... my quad core machine, for instance, has hundreds of tasks waiting. Why not the MAC OSX client? Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Yes in the past, Go to Bonic>advanced>preferences and click on Clear in the upper right hand corner. You are most likely using local Preferences instead of web based.

Thanks Dena. I did just as you suggested and I can see in the Messages screen that the client is now requesting new tasks. Now, the problem is that the project has no tasks available. Doh! >8)

My mac an intel osx has been getting only 3 work units at a time since last week. I have checked the local preferences and cleared them but still, do one get one. The P4 and the i7 have there quota of WU's.

Are you currently running another project on that system? I run WCG and I have been controlling the amount of work with no new task. I was down to two work units and then got about 8 days of SETI (I am set to request 4 days). When I turned WCG back on it didn't request data till I processed some of the work units. Also look in the right hand column and make sure you are not in high priority mode as that also can block downloads.
Check your preferences on the server to make sure you are using the right one. It's possible to set several different preference settings for different computers and you may not be using the one you think you are.

I am running milkyway onthe mac but have set NNT for that project. Also i did check my local prefferences and they were what i had trhem set for. I hit clear anyway. I have 8 tasks left for milkyway none running high priority. MY task list 48 work units but I have 3 on computer all the rest are waiting validation.
So unless they have to clear before i get more work, I dont know why Im getting no work.

What is the estimated times for those N-Body work units on the Mac. If they are large enough it might cover your work quota and keep you from getting SETI work.

two show 19 hours and they havent started yet, one shows 31 hours with 6 more to go. the other normal ones show just 5 hours to complete.

That must be why im not getting seti, I never looked at the milkyway times.

BOINC fills the cache up with what is available and uses the global work amount settings.

That might be evilbyte's problem as well, enough work from MW keeping the cache full.

Thanks arkayn, Those nbodys must be milkyways answer to AP work units.

AS an update, When I checked boinc this morning I had crunced a few of the nbodys from milkyway and had a few seti work units. When i get rid the last few I should get more when milkyway gets done running.
