installed 6.10.58 on four different Macs running 10.5 & 10.6.
None are able to connect to seti servers.
No firewall and no network problems.
What gives?

You are getting in but not when work is available. You can wait or if you are the impatient type, you can abuse the update button. I have a few work units left so I am going to wait.
