On filling up my hard drive I started getting the:

Message from server: No work available (there was work but you don't have enough disk space allocated)

error which is fair enough. However, I then freed up about 2Gbytes of space and wait for the next communication cycle. It still got this error.

I stopped and restarted the boinc client (and related projects) and suddenly it was able to see that there was space available.

It seems like it is not recalculating the disk space after it gets the error.

i think you have to update your preferences (force to connect to scheduler) to let boinc know that there is enough space after freeing up 2GB. it doesn't always check your hardware to know it.

That is silly. It knows that it has run out of space locally, there is no reason why it would have to look for updated preferences? It obviously checked when it ran out of space, why could it not check when it went to get new stuff again?

The check depends on how you configured your prefs. They interact with your hardware. You should check if your prefs make sense with your new hardware.

If this didn't help, you should ckeck if you use host venue and different confiurations. There are several problems possible in this range.

There is no new hardware, I just deleted 2Gbytes of files.
