green stars??
What does one have to do to get a green star connected to his user name?

Just Make a donation to Seti...
The minimum is $10.00, and your Green Star is good for a year.
It sometimes shows up in a few minutes, sometimes takes a day or so.

I have disabled sigs. I find it much easier to follow the content of discussions without the interruptions, like I prefer watching television without advertisements.
And I'm sure Joe Segur, on his dial-up - and all other limited-bandwidth participants - will have done the same. |

Why?
Well for one, those people who have no other choice but dailup can get the pages to load so very much faster so that they can get into reading the actual content.
And secondly, some of us just don't like having to scroll past huge gaudy sigs that really don't interest us at all.
There are likely many others with equally good reasons as well. :)

Richard, Wiggo, you don't know what you missed..
Some people have really nice, useful and/or informative sigs.
leor888, you need to use in the 'donation form' the same EMail address which you use for your SETI@home account. Only then you will get a star near your nick.
Also in your account you need to have:

if you knew how hard it sometimes is to donate you shouldn't state that.
but anyway you can keep the 125 euros.
I thought it would have been funny to see a green star . But OK it is no demand.
For other members it would be a great idea to state which steps you have to make bfore you are sponsoring exactly on the right way. And before they are donating warn them that they don't get "a star" if they donate without holding to the rules...
first time and of course last time I like to donate! I keep on crunching. That was much more fun last years. (Looking for stars isn't ey favorite and as you can notice I'm not good at it either.) hitting other signals that is what I'm doing..
(But I'm feeling really irritated by not receiving that green star anyhow..)

You mentioned in this post the donation numbers and it appears you were haveing somebody confirm the 2 donations.
Perhaps when the staff has some time they can look into getting your green star manually. Everyone knows they are extremely busy now with the new servers. Sometimes that what it takes, a little time.

I know they are busy. But I was just feeling a bit "lost out there in space" as I don't know who is staff and who is not.. I thought my german friend was part of Seti, but apparently not. We will see what happens within near future.
Perhaps I will receive a green star as a x-mas gift next weekend??

Richard, Wiggo, you don't know what you missed..
Some people have really nice, useful and/or informative sigs.
That maybe your opinion and you're welcome to it but I get to see more than enough of them when I go directly to the news or technical news from the front page and not one of them interests me at one little bit (your's isn't so bad but some are like looking at a 10 storey building made in bad taste that suddenly blocked your view).
You will just have to take it as a fact that a lot of people just see sigs as annoying advertising wasting page space and bandwidth unnecessarily so don't except people to see them.
