Oscar is on it's way but now another server is giving them fits. They were trying to contact some server manufacturers to see if they could talk them into a deep enough discount to use some of the money they got for Oscar to buy a second new server. This new fund drive is to make sure they can get what they need instead of just something to make do. Actually according to MSattler it may not be: They may have to scrap the plans for Oscar as previously spec'd in order to purchase TWO new servers. ____________

What facts are there to back that up? This message could be a good place to start. Or this one. ____________ Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired

What facts are there to back that up? Sorry, but I see nothing there that says Oscar is not going to be ordered. Just that they are looking into replacing Mork with the left over Oscar funds. After today I would think there will be sufficient funds for the Mork server replacement, or at least repair. Do you happen to know what the hardware specs are for Mork? Or any of the servers for that matter?

What facts are there to back that up? I have had conversations with Eric that suggest that Oscar is ordered, but the purchase order could be rescinded it they come to an agreement with another vendor who might offer to supply TWO new servers for the price of one. I don't always have insider info........ This was just relayed to me by Eric. Oscar will be what Oscar will be. A wonderful, faithful servant. Or will we be the servants? At the rate the new donation thread is going we may see a twin for Oscar. Last I saw we were well over $6000. With what was left over from the first drives we might get enough.

best thing i can recommend to help seti recover is this. But since 99 % of SETI users never read the forums, they will never get that idea. Most SETI computers are of the "set and forget" type I believe. ____________ /The grumpy old Swede. "I'm so old, that 98% of all trees in the forest, are younger than I am"

what i did notice is the project requests work units and fails after 2-3kb downloaded and waits. each of them requests has a extra bit of traffic. so to get a work unit its about 100 requests not one.

Looking at the Cricket graphs I suspect bandwidth. If you have a gigabyte connection you can donate (and install), I'm sure they would take it. ____________

There hasn't been a statistics export since the 24th, could it be possible to give the export routine a go?

There hasn't been a statistics export since the 24th, could it be possible to give the export routine a go? It must have to be turned on manually......and somebody has not. This is going to be a monumental day on Boincstats when it happens....LOL. ____________ ****** "Ask not, what your kitty can do for you. Ask what you can do for your kitty."
