I often end up with no work to do and a lot of tasks waiting to report because of "Scheduler request failed". It seems that the scheduler doesn't run on weekends, and only on some weekdays.

Is there some way to tell my boinc client to download more tasks in advance so I'm not left with no work to do?

Try "Maintain enough work for an additional __ days" in your Computing preferences.
