Crunchers,

For the nth time: What are VLAR's, how are they bad (cpu/gpu), and what to do about them, if anything, 'cause I have a boatload!

Thanks,

Russ

What is Google, how does it work, how can I use it to find answers to questions like these? :-)

Sorry, just happy to see the forums back. Now if the UL/DL services would just play nice for a few days.....

VLAR's crunch very poorly on GPU's....
If you have them assigned to your GPU, get Fred's recheduler tool to move them to your CPU for processing. See the New Rescheduler thread.
If they are assigned to your CPU, nothing to do except let them process normally.
VLAR refers to Very Low Angle Range, the speed at which the Arecibo telescope was moving when they were recorded.

Hope that helps.

I'm not sure what they are, but I do know from watching the many threads, that it because it takes a while to process them people don't like to process them via GPUs . Those that are using the optimized apps can switch them from GPU to CPU.

[Edit] Sorry about that the Kitties go to you before I did. [Edit]

Thanks Kittyman, you are genuine.

You are welcome.
Once you get the rescheduler, you can run a test that will look at the work you have in your cache and tell you what work is assigned where, and then you can reschedule if needed. If you have any questions about the rescheduler tool itself or how to use it, you can post in that thread.
