WAIT!!

Do not detach until you report any tasks left on your computer! If you detach before the tasks are reported you will lose all that credit!

Just set no new tasks and wait until we get back to running and you can report. After you report you can detach/attach and clear all your ghosts.

Also be aware that there is a risk of ending up with a different client id for your computer especially if you do it while the servers are under load

and you may then have problems merging them

its not the end of the world if it happens and can be fixed but thought you should also be aware it does not go smoothly every time :)

getting rid of ghosts will certainly easy the current log jam to some degree especially if the 30%+ people are seeing is an accurate reflection of the situation

As many ghosts as we have, there are probably a lot of result zombies on the upload server. Result zombie = uploaded result that will never be reported as complete or validated. They're just sitting there taking up space, making this server migration taking a painful amount of time.

Someone should compare count of files on upload server vs "Results returned and awaiting validation" (once everyone reports in this week).

By "reports in this week" I presume you mean on Friday, if the Lord tarry and the creek don't rise - I mean if they get the u/l working by then.
