Ari is correct. Parts of the project are still down. The project staff at Berkeley are working on it. Things are down because of two reasons: hardware failures and performance bottlenecks. At least one of the servers developed some bad RAM, and had to be taken offline until that was fixed. Also, the servers they were using on this project just prior to public launch are not their 'first string' of servers, so to speak. Those (currently) still support the Classic project. The Berkeley staff are busy both with reconfiguring the server arrangement (trying to maximize throughput), and with tweaking the code running on the servers (trying to minimize and/or eliminate various bottlenecks in the software).
The splitters need to keep up and get ahead of the demand for work units. The database needs to keep up with requests, as does the webserver. Berkeley has warned us that the project (or parts of it) will be up and down for at least the rest of this week, as they work on it. Please have a little patience.
