What if ET comes riding in on a local asteroid? It would be good to know before the apocolypse(?). |

We at Einstein@home have found a new pulsar processing Arecibo data. A second one is coming (a binary system). Tullio |

Nein Sutaru. This is homebase for most Setizens who listen. Have a backup project. I have Einstein@home Milkyway@home lhc@home Rosetta My GPU's crunch seti 24/7, but my cpu's share resources... Seti is and always will be my primary project, but for all the crunching, there have been no results, and I have no idea if the data has actually achieved anything so I do other projects to try and maximise my contribution to science in case seti draws blank |

lhc@home? why not TSP... Neither have work. Orbits Is a nice project to hook onto when you can get the work. I got a few so I'll be happily crunching away on Orbits and Seti In a rich man's house there is no place to spit but his face. Diogenes Of Sinope |

Nein Sutaru. This is homebase for most Setizens who listen. Have a backup project. You haven't been here too long enough to experience a month or so of downtime without notice. I think you can still read it in the news thread about the downtime. That is when I'm forced to add another project. And recently that 0 resource share came to life when we needed it back then. My seetings is: CPU main->back off project WCG->Seti GPU main->back off project Seti->gpugrid If and only if all goes kaboom i'll run FAH so i'll maintain my boinc projects short. |

your preferences are in direct contradiction to the admins wishes. IF you choose to have idle time thats entirely up to you. The admins want you to do more than Seti if you want all your CPU/GPU cycles to mean something.if its idle it should just be shutdown. Backup projects are always a good thing. Personally I will not do BOINC for BOINCS sake. If there is another project I wish to do work for that is one thing. But personal reasons, i will take no part in genetic engineering or anything that might be used towards that goal. And with the inability to share nice with CPDN, SETI it is!! The computers run anyway, and if there is idle time between tasks it is not harmful. Saves a few watts. I do of course have to protect middle earth as well as finding ET!! ;) Janice |

The recent BOINC workshop in London has posted a number of presentations about BOINC projects. I read them all and printed the Einstein slides. Tullio |
