Hi, I have a problem while running seti@home on the cpu, the cooling of the system isn't very efficient: k8temp-pci-00c3 Adapter: PCI adapter Core0 Temp: +89.0°C Core0 Temp: +102.0°C Core1 Temp: +83.0°C Core1 Temp: +92.0°C so what I want to do is to set it up to only use the GPU for processing. It's got an nVidia GT250 that's currenlt not being used, so I want to give it something to do. What settings to I need to change in order to use cuda on this system? And what do I need to change to disable cpu usage completely or just a bit? To help it run a bit cooler I've changed <cpu_usage_limit>50.000000</cpu_usage_limit> . Does this affect the GPU aswell? I want to use 100% of the GPU... also, it doesn't seem to actually download and run cuda workunits, is there something that I need to do in order to get cuda running with seti? I'm running Ubuntu server 10.04 with no gui Any help would be appreciated

From Message 1029408: Seti doesn't have a CUDA app for Linux. You'd have to use a third party app for that, and the only one I know of is one by Crunch3r, but for 64bit Linux only. With temperatures like that, I'd first open the case and check for dust. Clean out all dust out of fans and heat sinks. Next I'd check if the fans are actually spinning.

I've upgraded the cooling to a Coolermaster copper-base cooler and the system runs around 70'C under heavy load in windows, so I'm not sure if lm-sensors may be giving me incorrect values in linux. If I reboot and check the temps in the bios it's around 40'C, but then again, there's no cpu load in the bios screen.

Did you apply some thermal paste between the CPU and the heat sink of the new fan? Did you clean off all the old gunk before you applied the new thermal paste? Did you clean out all dust bunnies while you were in there? Where can I get the linux app by Crunch3r? From his site. Now, I don't know how well you can use internet search engines, but by just filling his name in like that in Google, I found his site in 0.34 seconds. Which is a lot faster than waiting 5 days for someone to come answer that question. The computers aren't hidden anymore, you should be able to see it now.
